Cozy Apple Cobbler

A warm, crowd-pleasing dessert that’s perfect for your Fourth of July celebration—or anytime you’re craving something sweet and nostalgic.

There’s something about the Fourth of July that calls for a classic, all-American dessert—and this apple cobbler delivers. It’s simple, comforting, and bursting with cinnamon apples under a buttery, golden topping. Whether you’re hosting a BBQ or bringing a dish to share, this one always hits. Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

For the Apple Filling

  • 6–8 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced about ¼” thick (about 9 cups)
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Topping

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ⅔ cup butter, melted

Optional for serving

  • Vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the ⅔ cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with most of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Spread the apples evenly into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on top and gently mix to coat.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, 1½ cups sugar, eggs, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Mix with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top.
  7. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown and the apples are bubbling underneath.
  8. Let it cool slightly before serving.

To Serve

Spoon into bowls while warm and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a generous drizzle of caramel sauce. It’s festive, cozy, and absolutely irresistible.
