Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
For the Apple Filling
- 6–8 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced about ¼” thick (about 9 cups)
- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
For the Topping
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¾ tsp salt
- ⅔ cup butter, melted
Optional for serving
- Vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a small bowl, mix together the ⅔ cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with most of the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Spread the apples evenly into a 9×13 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on top and gently mix to coat.
- In another bowl, combine the flour, 1½ cups sugar, eggs, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Mix with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
- Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown and the apples are bubbling underneath.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
To Serve
Spoon into bowls while warm and top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a generous drizzle of caramel sauce. It’s festive, cozy, and absolutely irresistible.
